Born in Australia in 1964, Jonathan Sarfati moved with his family to New Zealand as a child. There he studied mathmatics, physics, chemistry and geology at Victoria University in Wellington, graduating with honors. In 1995 he received his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the same university. He has co-authored a wide range of technical papers.
A keen chess player, he is a former New Zealand national chess champion, and has represented his country in three chess olympiads.
He became a Christian in 1984, and later co-founded the Wellington Christian Apologetics Society. For some years he served on the editiorial committee of Apologia, the society's journal.
Currently Dr Sarfati works full-time for Answers in Genesis in Brisbane, Australia, as a research scientist and editorial assistant for the ministry's publications and web site.
